Surgery - Animated GIF - I'm Sorry, What?

"Come on, get off of your phone and talk to me," Ryan's mother, Cassie, spoke up after almost an hour of silence as she took her hand off of the steering wheel to nudge him.

"Ugh, I lost service a couple of miles ago anyway...fine, whatever," Ryan grumbled, dropping his phone into his lap. "Does grandpa's place have WiFi?"

"Knowing your grandpa, I doubt it," Cassie replied. "But a week away from that thing will be good for you. Talk to me, talk to him, enjoy being way out in the country..."

Ryan rolled his eyes and looked out his window. Off through the trees was a fence, and behind that, a large and mysterious looking building. "What do you think..." he began to ask about it when, suddenly, Cassie screamed.

"Ahh! Hold on!" she shouted as she swerved away from a woman wearing what appeared to be a hospital gown darting into the road in front of them. The last thing Ryan saw was a large tree the car was careening toward...

Little flashes of memory ensued. Feelings of pain, needles, blinding bright lights... People in surgical masks and gowns hovering over him. Muffled voiced.

"Guh! Huh?" Ryan gasped as consciousness returned. He moved to sit up, feeling odd sensations from his body, but a sudden sharp pain in his head kept him from immediately investigating.

"Oh! Hold still! Hold still! You shouldn't be awake yet!" a woman, apparently a nurse, called out as she rushed over from across the room. She hit a red button next to Ryan's bed and then tried to guide him back down.

"Where...what..." he tried task through the pounding pain. However, it wasn't his own voice coming out of his mouth, it was his mother's... "Wah...AHH!What the fuck!?" He pushed her away and got to his feed, head still pounding and feeling dizzy. He looked toward the door as several men came rushing in.

"Ryan? That's you in there, right, Ryan Mitchell?" the man at the front of the group, apparently a doctor, asked. Ryan just stared blankly at him. "We saw it on your ID, after the crash."

"Crash? What...what the fuck happened? Where am I? Where is my mom!?" Ryan asked, getting more upset.

"This is going to be hard to hear, but you and your mother were in a bad car accident just outside of our facility," the doctor explained. "Now please, before you hurt yourself, sit back down."

Ryan looked around at the others in the room. Despite the surgical masks, he could see a few of them looking at his...or rather his mother's...exposed breasts. He covered them as he remained standing.

"Ok, ok," the doctor tried to calm him down. "The crash brought a tree down onto the car, crushing your body. Your mother was struck in the head by some debris. We brought you each in and...did our best to help you with the advanced techniques and technology we possess. Your mother was brain dead, but her body otherwise in-tact. Your body was crushed, but your brain in-tact. We matched up the surviving components and..."

"I'm sorry, what?" Ryan asked, incredulous.

"Your mother is dead. I'm sorry. But she has, indirectly, given you life. As I'm sure any parent would," the doctor finished.

"I'm...in her...body..." Ryan looked down, confirming it. The breasts in his hands were his mother's, nearly causing him to let go...but he decided better of it.

"Yes. Really, you are her, now," the doctor explained. "This place is top secret. For all legal purposes, it was Ryan who died in the crash while his mother survived. Even if the minds within have changed."

Ryan just stared. His mother was gone. He was in her body. He now had to take over her life. He was over two decades older. He was a woman. He was in his mother's body. All he could muster as he took it all in was another, meek "I'm sorry, what?"
